As I was a mom with one child with me, and other babies in the cradle, I worked 12 hours a day cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! Ha! It all started to make sense, but was far from completed. In this undertaking I had planned to invest a significant amount of time and money looking for my dream house. My three sons and me were looking for the hidden treasures at estate sales to ensure that my spending was under control. Our weekly routine was to walk from Thursday through Saturday through garage sales to purchase a mix of old and new pieces as well as spending the weekdays painting sanding in the driveway. The look was similar to this... This was when my interest in restoring furniture began. No matter what, the home was furnished. I rented a booth at the local market and also sold items there. In the end, I accumulated more items that I had no idea how to use them and had outgrown the space. Open houses were held at my house where 1 thousand people would visit on a single weekend. visitors could buy anything from the ground level. My business Growing Days began here. While my company grew as did our family. I was finding that balance of what it was like starting a business as well as a mother too. Growing Days just seemed to work. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. My business was booming however I needed a break. I decided to step back and stay at home, spending time with my children. This was precisely what I wanted. After a few months that the phones started to call. I began receiving requests from people requesting to help with their home improvement and design of interiors. Most of these people were the ones who had strolled through my home during the furniture open houses! I began to take on customers one by one taking my time but it didn't take for long to have numerous accounts and had the complete business of home remodeling. It is likely that I would have been laughing if somebody had informed me that my business was going to be the premise of an upcoming television show that airs on the DIY Network. It's hilarious to look back to it.
